Fundraising Dinner

On October 23rd, MEMO held its annual fundraiser dinner. This year the event took place at Evangel Church and once again proved to be a complete success! Throughout the evening, a dinner of lasagna and salad was served while people listened to Gary Cooper's presentation on the work of MEMO in Cuba and the many miracles that have taken place since it began providing medical equipment in 2004. The crowd also took part in singing some worship songs - including a few in Spanish - and finished the evening listening to Pastor Iran Pedraza, formerly from Placetas and now pastoring a church in Red Deer, give the keynote address entitled, "Shining Like a Light in the Darkness," in which he provided an interesteing perspective held by many Cubans toward MEMO and its work.

MEMO would like to thank the many volunteers who made the evening a success - from kitchen staff to musicians to coordinators. Without the help of these willing hearts, the evening would not have been the success that it was!

The money raised this year totaled over $11,000 (not including credit card donations) - which will be enough to ship the next container (#37!!) to Cuba as well as provide enough funds for mammography film for the next 6 months for the Breast Cancer Screening Clinic!

Pictures from the evening's events will be posted shortly! Check back soon!
